Our Approach

Hawaiian cuisine is meant to warm the belly and the soul. We pride ourselves in making the true island-style comfort food, putting the aloha spirit into all that we do. We treat our guests like our ohana, and our goal is to always put them first.

Our Story

Hapa Howie’s was created in honor of Howard William Hudson, owner Kiaha Rasmussen’s grandfather. Hapa Howie’s was started to bring true Hawaiian food to Portland, from the hapa grandchild of a truly incredible man. Hapa Howie’s launched this dream in May of 2019.

Ohana is everything to Hapa Howie’s. We would not be where we are without the incredible people who put the work in to create our dishes. While we are heavily supported by family and friends, its truly 2 people that oversee Hapa Howie’s success.

With over a decade in the corporate world under her belt, Kiaha brings the tenacity, drive and family recipes to Hapa Howie’s. Her food is her passion and it shows in her menu.

After 14+ years in the service industry, Stephanie joined Hapa Howie’s bringing her experience, dedication, and innovation to the food cart world.
